Bridging the past and future

This website documents the close partnership between the Philosophical Archive at the University of Konstanz (Germany) and the Archives & Special Collections in the University of Pittsburgh Library System since an agreement was signed in 1990. Through this partnership, microfilm copies of the estates of Rudolf Carnap, Hans Reichenbach and other philosophers was prepared by the Archives & Special Collections in University of Pittsburgh Library System as the holder of the original material and sent to the University of Konstanz, which is responsible for processing requests for access to these materials from all over Europe. Since that time, the Archives & Special Collections in the University of Pittsburgh Library System has digitized portions of these archives which are available to researchers worldwide. Eventually, selected collections from the holdings of the University of Konstanz will be available to Pittsburgh and worldwide as digital copies as well.
